亭子頂部都是有三層設計，內層為一層碳化木，中間層為防水板，外層是碳化木瓦片，一般采用的是琉璃瓦，瓦片溝槽具有排水功能，三層設計不易漏水，可以放心置于室外。

亭子大致分四角、六角、八角、雙層、三層、異型等幾種，建議消費者在購買時提前看好款式，量好具體尺寸，選好合適的款式。最好打地基，因為常規的涼亭的重量一般都有400多公斤，考慮到長期的接觸受力是否會導致地面變形下陷，使涼亭不平，所以扎實的地基也是必不可少的。
